   Morning:The Air Force Armament Museum: free, open daily, and packed with aircraft from a B-17 to an F-15. It sits just outside Eglin's gate, so no base pass is needed.

   Afternoon:The Emerald Coast Science Center plus the Indian Temple Mound Museum in Fort Walton Beach: two compact, genuinely good stops.

   Insider Tip:The Armament Museum's outdoor airpark is open sunup to sundown. Save it for a rain break.

   Afternoon:Uncle Buck's Fishbowl & Grill at Destin Commons: 16 lanes of underwater-themed bowling where the ball return is a shark's mouth, plus an arcade for the wait. It's first-come, first-served, so go early.

   Evening:Dinner at Tailfins: three indoor stories and enough TVs to watch every game ever played.
